Truck Day (Montgomery County)
Toddlers and young kids absolutely love touch-a-truck events, and Montgomery County's version is one of the best in the area. The Department of Transportation opens up their truck depot in Rockville and lets kids climb on, sit in, and explore the county's fleet of trucks and heavy equipment. Dump trucks, snowplows, street sweepers, utility vehicles, and more are all there for hands-on exploration. The 2026 edition also features the Paint the Plow snowplow art contest, where 14 local middle schools designed artwork on real snowplow blades. It is loud, it is hands-on, and it is exactly what young kids dream about. Free and no registration needed.

Getting There 🗺️
Parent Tips 💡
- Bring ear protection for sensitive kids. Truck horns and engines can be loud.
- Dress for mess. Kids will be climbing on trucks that work for a living.
- Get there at 11am. The three-hour window goes fast and lines can form for the most popular trucks.
- Toddlers and preschoolers get the most out of this. Older kids enjoy it too, but the sweet spot is ages 2-5.
- Bring hand sanitizer. Little hands will be touching everything.
