About KidTown Guide

Hey, I'm Bernard. I'm a dad living in the DC area, and I started KidTown Guide because I got tired of digging through five different Facebook groups, three websites, and a handful of email newsletters just to figure out what was happening this weekend. Every parent I talked to had the same problem. So I decided to build the thing I wished existed: one place where you can see all the best family events happening this week in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

What We Do

Every Tuesday morning, I research upcoming events and pick the ones that are actually worth your time. Festivals, outdoor movies, museum days, farm tours, splash pads, parades, free activities at the Smithsonian. If it's family-friendly and happening in the DMV, we cover it.

Everything on this site is curated by parents who go to these events with their own kids. We write from personal experience when we can, and we always include the practical stuff you actually need: parking tips, stroller access, which ages will get the most out of it, and whether it's worth the drive.

We also do hands-on reviews of places we visit with our families. Those are our On the Go pages. Real photos, honest takes, and the tips you won't find on the venue's website.

Meet Finn the Fox

Finn is our mascot. He's a little orange fox with a coral bandana and a green backpack who "sniffs out the fun" around DC. Your kids might already know him from our free coloring books. Each book follows Finn on a different adventure, like visiting the National Zoo, and the pages are designed for toddlers and young kids to color with crayons. They're free to download, no strings attached.
