Asian BBQ Festival at Rockville Town Square
The Asian BBQ Festival fills Rockville Town Square on Sunday, June 14, from 11am to 6pm, and it is an easy yes for a family that likes to eat. Dozens of stalls cook up cumin-spiced Chinese skewers, Japanese yakitori, Thai satay, and more, so you can graze your way around the square and let everyone pick something different. It is free to walk in, you just pay for what you eat.
Between bites there are K-pop dance sets, traditional music, and cultural performances, which give kids something to watch while you wait in line for food. The town square layout is open and walkable, with shops and a fountain area nearby, so it works for a stroller or a kid who needs to wander. Go on the early side if your family does better before the lunch rush hits.

Parent Tips 💡
- Arrive close to 11am. Lines build fast once the lunch crowd shows up. Early arrival means shorter waits and easier parking.
- Bring cash and a card. Some stalls are cash only and others take cards. Having both means you never miss the dish your kid actually wants.
- Share plates and graze. Order a few things and split them so kids can taste widely without you ending up with a pile of uneaten food.
- Scope out milder dishes. Plenty of stalls have non-spicy options. Ask before ordering if heat is an issue for your kids.
- Use the fountain area as a meeting point. The open square is easy to lose track of a kid in. Pick a landmark and tell older kids where to regroup.
