Fiesta DC 2026

Fiesta DC spreads across one weekend and two big events, both free. Saturday brings the street festival to Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 3rd and 7th Streets: food stands from across Latin America, craft vendors, and music and folk dance on multiple stages from noon to 7pm. Sunday afternoon is the Parade of Nations, with dance troupes and marching groups in traditional dress moving down Constitution Avenue from 1 to 5pm. Brazil is the 2026 Country of Honor, so expect extra samba.

With kids, the Sunday parade is the easier target. Stake out curb space along Constitution between 7th and 12th Streets about a half hour early, and the costumes, drums, and dancers do the rest. The Saturday festival works best as a lunch outing: go hungry, split pupusas and empanadas, and duck into the National Gallery Sculpture Garden or Natural History Museum when someone needs a bathroom or air conditioning. Archives–Navy Memorial station drops you in the middle of everything.

Parent Tips 💡

• ✓For the parade, arrive by 12:30pm: curb spots along Constitution between 7th and 12th go first. Bring a blanket or camp chairs for the wait.
• ✓Nobody watches all four hours: 60 to 90 minutes of parade is a solid kid dose. Come, catch a stretch of it, and leave while everyone's still happy.
• ✓Use the museums as escape hatches: Natural History and the Sculpture Garden sit right on the parade route, free bathrooms and AC when you need them.
• ✓Saturday is the eating day: arrive hungry and order small from several stands instead of one big plate. Small bills help when lines get long.
• ✓Bring ear protection for babies and toddlers: festival speakers and parade drum lines both run loud.
• ✓There's almost no shade on Constitution Avenue at 1pm: hats, sunscreen, and more water than you think you need.
