Friday Night Concerts at Yards Park 2026
On Friday evenings through the summer, Yards Park down on the Capitol Riverfront turns into a free outdoor concert. A local band plays on the boardwalk, families spread out on the grass, and the kids head straight for the water features. It is one of the easier free nights out in the city, mostly because the park does double duty as a playground and a place to actually hear some music.
The water is the draw for most kids, so pack a swimsuit and a towel even if you are mainly there for the band. Food and drinks are for sale, or you can bring a picnic. It runs most Fridays from mid-June into late July, and the crowd is relaxed and stroller-friendly.

Getting There πΊοΈ
Parent Tips π‘
- Pack a swimsuit and towel. The water features are the main event for most kids. Plan on them getting wet.
- Come early for lawn space. Spots near the boardwalk and the water fill in first. Arriving before the music starts gets you a better blanket spot.
- Check who is playing. The lineup changes week to week. The Capitol Riverfront events page lists the band for each Friday.
- Bring a picnic or bring cash. There are vendors on site, but a packed dinner saves money and time with hungry kids.
- Watch for game nights. When the Nationals are home, the neighborhood is busier and parking is tighter. Metro is the safer bet those nights.
