Columbia Festival of the Arts LakeFest 2026
LakeFest is the free weekend of the Columbia Festival of the Arts, and it's been running for nearly 40 years. From June 12-14 the Columbia Lakefront fills with live music on the LakeStage, an arts and crafts show, food trucks, and a beer and wine garden for the grown-ups. It's the kind of event where you can show up with no plan and still find something happening every time you turn around.
For kids, there are hands-on art projects, a big Monster Mural to color, and workshops from local groups like KidzArt. Friday is an evening session; Saturday and Sunday run during the day, which suits families better. Because it's right on the lakefront, there's room for kids to roam between the stage and the art booths without feeling boxed in. Bring a blanket, let them make something messy, and stay for a set of music.

Parent Tips 💡
- Come during the day on Saturday or Sunday: Friday is an evening-only session. The weekend daytime hours line up far better with kids' schedules and the full kids' art lineup.
- Dress kids for mess: The hands-on art and the Monster Mural mean paint and markers. Old clothes, or a packed change, save you the stress.
- Bring a blanket or low chairs: Seating at the LakeStage is limited. A blanket gives your family a home base near the music and a spot for snack breaks.
- Arrive early for parking: The closest garages fill up as the day goes on. Getting there before midday means a shorter walk with tired kids later.
- Pack water and a hat: Mid-June by the lake gets warm and the open areas have little shade. Refillable bottles beat the vendor lines.
- Let kids set the pace: With the lakefront to roam, this works best as a wander-and-graze afternoon rather than a fixed schedule. Follow what catches their eye.
