The Great Frederick Fair 2026

The Great Frederick Fair is the biggest week on Frederick County's calendar: nine days of carnival rides, livestock barns, grandstand shows, and fair food, about an hour northwest of DC. Around 240,000 people come through the gates each year, and the whole thing still runs on 4-H kids showing their cows and rabbits. For families the math is friendly, because kids 10 and under get in free every single day.

Here is what kids actually remember afterward: the animal barns. Walk through in the morning when the cows are being washed and the goats are at their loudest, then hit the midway once the rides start up. Buy admission online before opening day and adults pay $8 instead of $15 at the gate. If your kid is a ride kid, the $35 Jack Pass bundles one admission with an all-day ride wristband and pays for itself fast.

Getting There πŸ—ΊοΈ

METRO No Metro out here. Frederick is about 50 miles northwest of DC. MARC's Frederick branch runs a few weekday-only trains from Union Station, and the fairgrounds sit about a mile from Frederick's MARC station.
BUS Frederick's local TransIT buses run along East Patrick Street. Realistically, most DMV families will drive to this one.
PARKING Take I-270 north to Frederick and follow signs for East Patrick Street. Lots fill by late morning on weekends, so aim for gate opening, especially on the middle Saturday.
