Afro-Peruvian Rhythms, and the Kids Play Along
Saturday Morning Live is the National Theatre's free show series for kids, and on Saturday, October 10, at 10am, the stage belongs to Grupo Rompe Cajón. They perform Afro-Peruvian music and dance, including Peruvian tap, and kids get pulled in to play percussion, sing and learn a few of the steps.
It's free. Pre-register on Eventbrite to hold your spot, and walk-ups get in if there's room. Every Saturday Morning Live show has an ASL interpreter, the theater is wheelchair accessible, and you can park your stroller in the lobby.
We like these mornings because they're free, they're downtown, and the National Theatre is a grand old theater, which feels like a big deal to a five-year-old. If this Saturday doesn't work, Grupo Rompe Cajón comes back on October 24. And the National Children's Museum is just across Pennsylvania Avenue, with a new dinosaur exhibit, if you want to turn it into a full morning.
