Alexandria Fall-O-Ween at John Carlyle Square

A Costume Parade and a Fall Market in Carlyle

Chic Events DC is putting on Alexandria Fall-O-Ween on Saturday, October 31, from 11 to 5 at John Carlyle Square. It's free to get in and it happens rain or shine, which matters on Halloween weekend.

The part kids care about is the costume parade at 1pm, with prizes for the most creative and spooky outfits. At 3 it's the pets' turn, so if your dog has a costume, bring them along. The rest of the day there are arts and crafts, sweet treats and a festive marketplace with handmade Halloween decor.

I like this one as the daytime half of a Halloween plan: do the parade at 1, grab lunch, and you're still home in time to trick-or-treat in your own neighborhood. The listing is on Eventbrite if you want to save it to your calendar.
