Alexandria's Scottish Walk Holiday Parade is Saturday, December 5, from 10:30 to 12:30 in Old Town. It's the 55th year, with a slightly new name (it used to be the Scottish Christmas Walk Parade), and the City of Alexandria is running it now. It's free.

Expect Scottish clans marching in tartan, pipe and drum bands, Scottie dogs and hounds, and local community groups. Kids who like loud music and dogs will be very happy. The city hasn't published the 2026 route yet, so check the city's parade page that week before you pick a curb.

The same day is Alexandria's big holiday Saturday. The Holiday Boat Parade of Lights starts at 5:30pm on the waterfront, with free dockside activities from 2 to 8. If your kids can handle a long day, you can do the parade in the morning, go home for naps, and come back for the boats.
