Big Trucks on Friday, Farm Days and a Carnival All Weekend
Frying Pan Farm Park in Herndon holds its Fall Harvest Fest and Carnival this weekend, Friday through Sunday, October 16 to 18. Getting in costs the parking: $10 per car, each day, paid at the park. The carnival rides are extra.
Friday night is Big Truck Night. From 5 to 7, kids get up close to big trucks and specialty vehicles, and the carnival runs from 5 to 9. Saturday and Sunday are Farm Harvest Days, 10am to 3pm, with hands-on farm activities, traditional demonstrations and the livestock. The carnival is open 11 to 9 on Saturday and 11 to 6 on Sunday. There are food vendors and a beer garden all weekend.
The ride pricing takes a minute to figure out. On Friday and Sunday you can buy an unlimited-ride wristband for that day's session: $23.25 online until 5pm Friday, then $28.25 online or $27 at the park. Saturday has no wristbands at all, only ride credits, which are $1 each or $20 for 24, and most rides take 4 to 8 credits. If your kids want to ride everything, Friday night or Sunday with a wristband is the better deal.
One more thing: Friday's forecast had showers and storms in it when I checked on Thursday, so look at the park's page before you head out for Big Truck Night.

Parent Tips 💡
- Buy wristbands before 5pm Friday. That's when the $23.25 presale ends. After that it's $28.25 online or $27 at the park, and each wristband covers one session only.
- Saturday is credits only. No wristbands that day. Credits are $1 each, $20 for 24, $40 for 48, $60 for 72, $80 for 96 or $100 for 125. Most rides take 4 to 8.
- One parent holds the credits. Credits load in the Funtagg app or at the kiosks, and credits bought for a group in the app can't be split across phones.
- Do the farm first. Farm Harvest Days end at 3 and the carnival runs later, so see the animals in the morning and save the rides.
- Don't feed the animals. The farm asks visitors not to, even when the animals look hungry.
- Watch Friday's weather. Storms were in the forecast when I checked. If it's pouring, Sunday is the backup with wristbands.
