Pride Family Day at Glen Echo Park
The 6th annual Pride Family Day at Glen Echo Park is a laid-back Saturday morning with crafts, face painting, carousel rides, and playground time. It runs from 11am to 2pm, so it's a compact event that fits well into a weekend without taking over your whole day. Kids can bounce between the craft tables and the playground, which are right next to each other.
The park itself is worth exploring even beyond the event. There's an old bumper car pavilion that's been converted into a performance space, working artist studios where you can peek in and watch people make pottery and glass art, and shaded walking paths. If your kids finish with the activities early, the park has plenty to keep them busy.

Getting There πΊοΈ
Parent Tips π‘
- Arrive close to 11am: The event only runs until 2pm, so you want the full window. Getting there at noon means you've already missed a chunk of it.
- Bring a picnic blanket: The lawn area near the pavilion is perfect for spreading out. Pack lunch and make it a picnic after the activities wrap up.
- Carousel rides are $2: Bring cash or small bills. The Dentzel carousel is from the 1920s and kids love it. Worth at least one ride.
- The playground is right next to the main pavilion: This means kids can go back and forth between organized activities and free play without you having to trek across the park.
- Parking fills up early: The lot is free but not huge. If you arrive after 11:30, you may need to park along MacArthur Blvd and walk in.
