Arlington Palooza
Arlington Palooza is one of those neighborhood festivals that just works. Lubber Run Park fills up with food trucks, live bands play at the amphitheater, and there's a whole kids zone with bounce houses and activities. What I like about it is that it genuinely feels like a community event, not a corporate production. You run into neighbors, the kids find friends from school, and the whole afternoon just rolls along without anyone stressing about a schedule. Last year we showed up around 11am and didn't leave until 3.
The food truck lineup is usually pretty good, with enough variety that even picky eaters can find something. The kids zone keeps little ones busy while you actually get to sit down and eat, which as a parent I consider a win. The amphitheater area has a natural slope that makes for good seating during performances. If your kids get restless during the music, there are trails through the park where they can run around and explore. It's a solid, low-pressure Saturday outing that works for all ages.

Getting There πΊοΈ
Parent Tips π‘
- Arrive before noon for parking. Street spots near the park go fast once the festival gets going.
- Bring a blanket for the amphitheater. The grassy slope is the best spot to watch the bands and eat your food truck lunch.
- The bounce houses can get long lines by early afternoon, so hit the kids zone first if inflatables are a priority.
- Bring water bottles. There are some water stations, but having your own is easier with kids.
- Sunscreen and comfortable shoes. You'll be walking on grass and trails, and there's not much shade in the main festival area.
