Hometown Holidays Music Festival 2026
Rockville shuts down its Town Center every Memorial Day weekend and turns it into a free outdoor music festival. Two stages run 15+ bands over two days — rock, blues, country, pop, and kids' music all mixed in. Saturday has a dedicated kids music set from Groovy Nate, an animal show, and a craft tent where kids can do projects and play giant yard games like Connect 4. It's the kind of low-key community festival where you can park a blanket, grab food from a vendor, and let the kids roam a bit.
The festival runs noon to 6pm both days. There are also artisan vendors selling handmade jewelry, candles, and crafts if you want to browse while the kids are occupied. Rockville added a sensory tent and respite station this year, which is a thoughtful touch for families who need a quiet break. The whole thing wraps up in time for dinner.

Parent Tips 💡
- Saturday is the better day for families: The kids' music and animal show are scheduled for Saturday. Sunday skews more toward adult acts.
- Take the Metro: Rockville Station on the Red Line is a short walk to Town Square. Parking during the festival can be tight, and some surrounding streets get closed.
- The sensory tent is available both days: If your kid gets overwhelmed by noise or crowds, the respite station offers a quiet space to decompress.
- Bring a blanket or camp chairs: There's limited seating near the stages. Staking out a spot early with a blanket gives your family a home base.
- Budget for food vendors: There are plenty of food options from local restaurants and food trucks. Prices are typical festival range — $8-15 per meal.
- Combine with the Memorial Day Parade: If you're in town Monday the 25th, Rockville's Memorial Day Parade starts at 10:30am at Town Center — a nice follow-up outing.
