CiNoMatic Outdoor Movie: Top Gun
Outdoor movie nights are one of the best parts of warm weather in DC, and this one is a good time. Alamo Drafthouse is hosting a free screening of Top Gun at Alethia Tanner Park in the NoMa neighborhood. They set up a big screen on the lawn, and families spread out with blankets and chairs. Before the movie starts, there are lawn games to keep the kids busy and food from local vendors if you didn't have time to eat dinner before heading out.
The movie starts at sunset, so plan to arrive early if you want a decent spot. The park is right next to the NoMa Metro station, which makes getting there pretty painless. Top Gun is a fun one for older kids who are into planes and action, and the younger ones tend to fall asleep in your lap by the second half anyway. It's free, it's outside, and it's a Wednesday night that actually feels like something instead of just another weeknight at home.
