Earth Day Fairfax
Earth Day Fairfax is the biggest Earth Day celebration in Fairfax County, and it's built for families. Lake Fairfax Park fills up with nature exhibits, live animals from Frying Pan Farm Park, a giant rock-climbing wall, and hands-on activities that actually teach kids something without feeling like school. The Wonder Wagon Mobile Nature Center brings local wildlife up close, and there are "land kayaking" and camping demos for kids who love being outdoors. Live music from the Recycling Pirates (the name alone sells it), a craft beer garden for the adults, and food vendors round out the day. There's an Earth Day Passport program where kids visit select booths to earn a custom t-shirt, one per family.

Parent Tips 💡
- Arrive right at 10am to beat the parking rush and get the best pick of activities.
- The Earth Day Passport is first-come-first-served, start collecting stamps early if your kids want the t-shirt.
- Bring sunscreen and hats, most activities are outdoors with limited shade.
- Food vendors are on-site but lines get long around noon. Pack snacks.
- Wear shoes that can handle grass and dirt, it's a park, not a paved event.
- The craft beer garden is separate from the kids area, parents can take turns if one wants to check it out.
