Flower Mart at Washington National Cathedral
The Flower Mart has been a DC spring tradition for 87 years, and it is one of those events that families come back to every single year. The grounds of the National Cathedral fill up with garden vendors selling herbs and flowers, a vintage carousel that kids go wild for, puppet shows under the trees, and craft booths where little ones can pot their own plants. The cathedral itself is stunning as a backdrop, and there is something really peaceful about spending a morning surrounded by gardens and families enjoying the spring weather. Food trucks and local bakers keep everyone fed. It is also part of Passport DC's cultural programming, so you might catch international performances on the main stage.

Getting There 🗺️
Parent Tips 💡
- Friday is much less crowded than Saturday. If you can make it on a weekday, you will have a way better experience with shorter lines for the carousel.
- Bring cash for plant purchases and carousel rides. Some vendors accept cards, but cash is faster and easier.
- The puppet shows are at set times so check the schedule when you arrive and plan around them if your kids are interested.
- Explore the Cathedral gardens while you are there. The Bishop's Garden is gorgeous in spring and rarely crowded.
- Pack sunscreen and a hat. Most of the market is outdoors with limited shade.
