Hill Center Family Day
Hill Center's annual Family Day takes over the grounds of the Old Naval Hospital on Capitol Hill with an afternoon packed with entertainment and activities for kids of all ages. There is live music from King Bullfrog, a magic show, face painting, balloon animals, and, the part kids will not stop talking about, real alpacas and bunnies to meet and pet. The event runs from two to six in the afternoon, which is a generous window that lets families come and go at their own pace. Everything is free, which makes it one of the best value family outings of the spring. The Capitol Hill neighborhood itself is great for a walk before or after, and Eastern Market is just a few blocks away if you want to grab lunch or browse the weekend vendors.

Parent Tips 💡
- Arrive closer to 2 PM if your kids want to see the magic show: It usually starts early in the lineup, so get there soon after the event opens to catch it.
- The alpacas and bunnies are the star attraction: Head there first before lines build up, especially for the little ones who want to pet them.
- Bring sunscreen and water: The event is mostly outdoors with limited shade, so come prepared with sun protection and hydration.
- Eastern Market is nearby: It's just a few blocks west and makes a great lunch stop before or after the event. Great for browsing weekend vendors too.
- Hill Center building has restrooms: Restrooms are available in the Hill Center building for families during the event.
