Movies on the Potomac
National Harbor does outdoor movies on the waterfront, and honestly the setting alone makes it worth the trip. You set up your chairs right along the Potomac, the kids can run around on the boardwalk before the movie starts, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby if you want to grab dinner first. The movie starts at 7pm and it's completely free.
What makes this one nice is that it doesn't feel like you're just watching a movie. You're making an evening out of it. Walk around, let the kids look at the boats, grab ice cream, then settle in when the screen comes on. National Harbor has enough going on that even if the movie doesn't hold your toddler's attention, there's still plenty to do. Just get there early enough to find parking, because the garages fill up on event nights.
