Star Wars Day at MLK Library
May the Fourth is celebrated across the galaxy, and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library is all in. The library sets up craft stations where kids build their own lightsabers out of pool noodles and duct tape, a LEGO area where families design and build their favorite Star Wars ships, and costumes are encouraged, not just for kids but for parents too. There's usually a costume parade in the early afternoon where everyone walks around the library showing off their outfits. The movie screening happens in the afternoon, so you can come for the crafts and activities in the morning and stay through for the film. The whole event feels like a celebration rather than just a library program, and kids walk away with lightsabers they actually made themselves.
